Lynne Robinson & Rob Rutledge The CPOP workshop is usually held after the CAPO conference. This year our sessions are integrated into the conference and will appear as abstracts in the CAPO program. Therefore CAPO registration is required for workshops II & III. CPOP sessions are open to all but please RSVP to jan@cpoponline.ca so we can plan. Hotel reimbursement and spaces for dinner are limited, so RSVP early! ************************************************* WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25 // Pre-Conference 8:30 am - 12:30 pm Building and Sustaining Effective Partnerships for Research Janine Giese-Davis and Marg Fitch For everyone interested in research related to community-based organizations. CAPO registration is required; also email capo@funnel.ca to reserve a spot. ** Check-in ** 12-1 pm: Check-in for CPOP participants Workshop I 1 – 5 pm Serving patients and families directly, and other CPOP talk An update on CPOP, a presentation from Marg Fitch about CPOP within CAPO and CPAC/Cancer Journey, and a discussion about the potential to expand cpoponline to include information services to patients and families. The goal is to avoid duplication of existing resources but to direct patients to existing resources, guide patients in utilizing all resources available to them, and fill in gaps. CAPO registration is not required to attend; we ask that you email us so we can track numbers (Jan@cpoponline.ca). ** Dinner ** CPOP networking dinner. Workshop II 10:30 -12 noon Community management that works: How to build and sustain a thriving online community Heather Sinardo, Canadian Cancer Society, and Shelly Cory, Canadian Virtual Hospice Technology helps bring people together to share information and support. It can organize their collective knowledge, making the user-generated information and support useful and accessible to many. But technology alone does not make a community. In this interactive workshop, learn how to build and sustain a thriving online community. ** LUNCH ** CPOP networking lunch at reserved tables in CAPO dining area Workshop III 1:30 – 3:00 pm CBO showcase Rob Rutledge Each CBO will have five to six minutes to present an interesting project/issue that would be helpful to other CBOs. |
