                                            Partnership Committee of CAPO
                                            Terms of Reference

                                            PURPOSE

                                            To facilitate the development of partnerships and joint activities between CAPO, community-based organizations, the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer and/or other associations engaged in work related to psychosocial oncology.

                                            RESPONSIBILITIES

                                            • To oversee the operations of CPOPonline.
                                            • To work with CAPO members and other stakeholders to develop collaborative partnerships that further the mission of CAPO.
                                            • To develop a mechanism and process for consensus building and advocacy to ensure adequacy of PS care among stakeholders e.g. CBOs, peer support groups and other practitioners in psychosocial care across all regions of Canada whenever possible.
                                            • To facilitate communications between partners and other stakeholders
                                            • To encourage sharing of expertise amongst partners and CAPO.
                                            • To liaise with the Fund-Raising Committee and others to establish sustained financial resources for joint activities between CAPO and other stakeholders.
                                            • To liaise with the CAPO Education, Clinical Advisory and Research Committees to ensure that education (professional and public), evidence-based practice, knowledge dissemination and relevant research are incorporated into partnership activities.
                                            • To report to the board on a regular basis, and the membership of CAPO on the activities of the committee on an annual basis.

                                            TERM OF OFFICE
                                            Two-year term.  Members may serve an additional consecutive second term.

                                            CHAIR:  A member of the Board is designated as the Chair or co-Chair of the Partnership Committee.

                                            At minimum, one seat will be held for each of the following:
                                            • a CBO member
                                            • a member from the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC)
                                            • a researcher member (primary responsibility to employer is research)
                                            • a practitioner member (primary responsibility to employer is provision of health care to clients/patients)

                                            Where possible membership on the committee will be drawn from CAPO members, but non-CAPO members can serve in an advisory capacity for up to a single term.
