To Cancer Journey Advisory Groups, Partners, Project Leads and Coordinators:

The Cancer Journey National Survivorship Working Group (NSWG) is reviewing the issues, concerns and challenges of cancer patients, survivors, caregivers and the employment and insurance sectors for those working through or returning to work after cancer treatment. An online survey for patients, survivors and caregivers has been posted. The NSWG is hoping to hear from individuals across the country, with results expected in the spring 2012.

Where appropriate, we would appreciate your assistance in sharing the email messages at right (provided in English and in French) that explain the background of the study and provide the links to the online surveys. The information may be shared with your local patient and survivor support groups and through your regular communication mechanisms, newsletters, websites, etc.

Are you interested in participating in a research study on return of work concerns, issues and challenges?

WHY: The Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC) is currently conducting a study that looks at the concerns, issues and challenges that people diagnosed with cancer and their caregivers experience when the person with cancer returns to work during or after treatment. The feedback we receive from participants will help inform future programs, services and resources.

WHAT: We are conducting an online survey that will ask questions about your return to work experiences both during and after treatment and about any concerns, issues and challenges you experienced.

HOW LONG: The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete

WHO:
If you are:
·   18 years of age or older AND
·   Have had a cancer diagnosis in the past 5 years AND
·   Were working at the time of your cancer diagnosis

           OR

If you are:
·   18 years of age or older AND
·   Have been an informal caregiver (i.e. not providing care in a professional capacity) for someone who had a cancer diagnosis in the past 5 years AND
·   Were working at the time of your caregiving experience

...then we would like to hear about your work-related experiences.

Inquiétudes des personnes atteintes de cancer et de leurs soignants par rapport au retour au travail

Souhaiteriez-vous participer à une étude de recherche sur les inquiétudes, les problèmes et les défis relatifs au retour au travail?

Pourquoi? : Le Partenariat canadien contre le cancer mène actuellement une étude sur les inquiétudes, les problèmes et les défis auxquels font face les personnes ayant reçu un diagnostic de cancer et leurs soignants lorsque les personnes ayant reçu le diagnostic retournent au travail pendant ou après le traitement. Les commentaires que nous recevrons des participants inspireront de nouveaux programmes, de nouveaux services et de nouvelles ressources.

De quoi s'agit-il? : Nous menons à l'heure actuelle un sondage en ligne qui pose des questions sur l'expérience de retour au travail pendant et après le traitement, ainsi que sur les inquiétudes, les problèmes et les défis auxquels vous avez dû faire face.

Combien de temps faut-il? : Il faut 20 minutes environ pour remplir le sondage.

Qui peut participer à cette étude? :
Si vous...
·   êtes âgé d'au moins 18 ans ET
·   avez reçu un diagnostic de cancer au cours des cinq dernières années ET
·   occupiez un emploi au moment où vous avez reçu le diagnostic de cancer

OU

si vous...
·   êtes âgé d'au moins 18 ans ET
·   avez été le soignant naturel (c'est-à-dire un soignant qui ne possède pas de compétences professionnelles dans ce domaine) d'une personne qui a reçu un diagnostic de cancer au cours des cinq dernières années ET
·   occupiez un emploi au moment où vous avez prodigué les soins

...alors, nous aimerions savoir ce que vous avez vécu lors du retour au travail.
