Research Study Recruitment

CancerChatCanada.ca
Online support for young
breast cancer survivors

Picture
Joanne Stephen, BC Cancer Agency, and associates have begun enrolling young breast cancer survivors in a study that will compare the efficacy of:
* online support groups led by a professional;
* online support groups led by peers; and
* education-only controls.

Participants will be assessed at the start of the study (establishing a baseline for comparison), immediately after the 10-week group, and at 6 and 12 months. Researchers will be measuring quality of life, distress levels, self-efficacy and life satisfaction.

Anyone wishing to assist with recruiting can ask for postcards and bookmarks from the study coordinator, 1-800-663-3333, ext. 4965.

Women can register for the study by going to cancerchatcanada.ca/register.php. Enrollment will continue through to 2013.

Funding is from the Canadian Breast Cancer Research Alliance.
