Asbestos, a known carcinogen, has received substantial media attention lately. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart did a segment on the industry and the town in May of 2011; news outlets reported on the show's coverage. Then an online petition was started to protest the industry. At a recent United Nations meeting, the Canadian government blocked an attempt to label asbestos a hazardous chemical.  Here's the run-down on who said what, when.
